Have you ever imagined yourself as the light.
Where the love affair begins, and also ends. Where the rays of energy and brilliance pour from, illuminating the stories of love and life you tell. Warming the bare arms of those in front of your lens. Shining catch lights in their eyes, forming shadows on the ground and coating life with your essence.
We seek light outside of ourselves. We squint to the end of the tunnel, we crane our neck for the glimmer.
On other days we hide from the harshness, we dip into the shade where it feels safe, we place our subjects between us and its source softening the edges.
And yet as photographers, storytellers, visionaries… we are the LIGHT.
It’s why I adore FRONTAL LIGHT.
It’s strong, it’s unapologetic, it reveals every detail. There is no soft haze to hide the truth, no beautifying.
It simply IS.
Frontal light forces you to understand light and how to expose for it. It forces you to lean into every corner of the frame.
In the light of day, it says ‘I’m here, you’re here, this is us. This is our moment.’
It is with great anticipation I await your story of frontal light.
Here’s to week eight, tag me on insta @chloelodgephotographer.
