The beauty of Bokeh, a favourite of many photographers, described as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light" on Wiki.
It comes from Japanese, meaning blur. We, as photographers, love it because it literally adds confetti of light to our images. The softness of circles, the repeating patterns, the illumination, the warm glow… all the things which draw us in without giving us all the answers.
Much like the first dance of freshly born lovers, bokeh adds a sense of poetry to the room. It allows our eyes to fall on the subject, sharper in the foreground while serenading the scene with intrigue. (or if you’re anything like me you will sprinkle bokeh throughout).
To create bokeh you will need a camera where you can adjust the aperture (the opening of the lens) enabling you to shift the depth of field and allowing the light to fall off into a blur of bokeh.
This is a week I know many will jump for joy at, I can’t wait to see what you create.
Lighting the way,
