On Sunday I taught a Nikon LIVE Masterclass.
A NIKON LIVE MASTERCLASS!!!
It has been a dream of mine for a long time to teach, nurture and share my knowledge under the umbrella of something bigger than little ol’ me.
Why? Because I’ve never felt my voice was loud enough. I felt I would never truly reach those who really needed to hear what I had to say by going it alone.
How did it go? Ahhhhhhmazing and although it was not a sell out (is anyone’s first ever a sellout?) I remembered and learnt a few things and I’d like to share those with you today.
I am no longer afraid. Photography is the language I speak most fluently. I speak about it with more confidence than almost anything else.
I LOVE teaching, sharing and nurturing.
I remembered that there is so much knowledge bubbling round in my grey cells, although I can’t remember where I put my car keys, what we had for dinner last night or if my daughter has gymnastics today I KNOW I KNOW what I need to know to teach photography.
Motherhood makes you question everything and knocks your confidence because you give so much of yourself to it and you trouble shoot minute by minute that you are often left depleted. Sharing and talking about photography helps heal and reconnect the nerves which have been severed over time.
I remembered I have learnt, I have questioned and tried and tested and fallen down AND picked myself up in the business and art of photography so many times that taking a Masterclass is EXACTLY where I should be.
Logistically I can’t do this alone.
And although I have warrior tattooed on my arm I actually don’t need to do it alone.
My passion is like a fireball inside but I’ve learnt to channel it through a warm glove as I shake my newest attendees hand hello, and end with a glowing hug as we say goodbye.
I often undersell myself and surprise attendees (and myself) on what I deliver.
I am ready for so much more; a next book, a roadshow of classes, speaking at more conferences….
How could I share my knowledge with you? Do you love books, maybe a day class in your area, a talk at a conference, shorts online?
Thank you for your light,
